ADVENT Technologies, LLC (Livermore, CA) – Electrical Engineer (Fuel Cell, Analog, Electromechanical Control, EMC, MIL-SPEC Product Development)
Job Brief
We are seeking a hands-on self-starter Electrical Engineer capable of fuel cell system development with wide-ranging responsibilities from new design concepting and architecture development to board layout, vendor interfacing, system testing and calibration, and ultimately troubleshooting both on the bench and potentially in the field. The ideal candidate will be comfortable designing and analyzing analog circuits as well as digital systems with embedded microcontrollers. Skill in interfacing with power electronics both for stack management as well as controlling electromechanical elements such as brushed DC motors, BLCD motors, solenoids, valves, and igniters is essential. Additionally, experience working with lab instrumentation and interface development for a variety of sensors such as thermocouples, flow, and shock sensors is critical. A history of designing for EMC, supervising third-party testing, and redesigning to pass EMC trials (both emission and susceptibility) is strongly preferred. Experience with conforming to MIL-SPEC standards is a plus.
Experience debugging systems built around the TI MSP430 family of microcontrollers (SOC) is highly valued, as is basic competence in firmware development using either/both IAR Workbench or Code Composer Studio (IDE). Experience with I2C and SMBus is a plus. The candidate should be comfortable working both in an office and laboratory setting and be proficient safely using a variety of hand and power tools. Skill in SMT rework and the ability to occasionally solder under a microscope is also important. An MSEE with 5 years of experience is preferred, but a highly skilled BSEE with demonstrated career success on multiple new product development programs is also encouraged to apply.
Good communication skills and the ability to represent the company professionally in customer-facing meetings are very important. You must enjoy wearing many hats and get along well with others to succeed in this position. You must be a US Citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) to receive consideration for this position.
