Advent Technologies is looking to hire a Product Development Engineer in Patras, Greece.

Position Overview

As a Product Development Engineer for Fuel Cell Systems you will focus on designing, developing, and optimizing fuel cell technologies for various applications such as stationary power generation. This role typically requires a strong background in engineering, and energy systems, along with knowledge of fuel cell technology principles and applications. You will also execute hardware projects and provide business insight into fuel cell and hydrogen technologies, contributing to our growth and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and manufacturing of HT PEM fuel cell stacks and systems.
  • Engineering Improvements: Recommend or implement design changes using a multidisciplinary approach, integrating mechanical, electrical, control, software, and process design.
  • Execution of Hardware Projects: In charge of execution of hardware projects in a demo environment, ensuring successful implementation and performance validation.
  • Business Presentations: Prepare technical presentations to support the company’s business plans related to the hardware segment.
  • Technical Leadership: Represent the company as the technical lead in hardware projects, engaging with EU bodies, institutions, and partners to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Collaboration: Serve as the primary technical contact point with third parties to co-develop hardware solutions, fostering effective partnerships.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Generate technical reports and presentations and effectively communicate findings to diverse audiences.
  • Component Sourcing and Testing: Support sourcing and testing of components, subsystems, and systems for performance, reliability, and durability, including fuel cell stacks, power modules, DC/DC converters, controllers, batteries, sensors, pumps, and motors.

Qualifications and Skills

  • MSc/MEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, PhD is a plus.
  • Proficiency in computer design software programs, such as SolidWorks.
  • Proven experience in product design and development.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Experience in fuel cell stacks and systems, particularly HT PEM, is a strong advantage.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience in the testing and prototyping of fuel cell systems, with a hands-on approach to developing and assembling physical models.
